What it is
In Captain Contraband, a high seas action rogue-lite, you play a ship captain trying to smuggle, trade, or pirate their way across the sea and into legend. The sea is filled with all manner of pirates and vultures waiting to feast on their next meal - and that's just the ones that are alive. The dead have become a menace of late.
The premise
Perma-death captures the intensity of smuggling a cargo hold full to the brim with valuables across the sea, knowing that if the wrong pirate ship crosses your path, you could lose everything.
