What it is
Castles II: Siege & Conquest is a strategy game developed by Quicksilver Software and released in 1992. Set in medieval Europe, it combines real-time siege battles with turn-based political and economic management. Players control a noble house, managing resources, diplomacy, and territorial expansion while competing against rival factions. The game features historical scenarios, including conflicts such as the Hundred Years’ War.
The premise
It is the year 1311. The King of France has just died and, because King Charles did not have an heir, it is up to you to take control of as much of France as you can. If you manage the kingdom properly and the Pope gives you his blessing, then you will become the King of France.
