Editorial overview
What it is
The year is 2XXX. The near future. In order to avoid another catastrophic war, the maritime city of Tokyo is now a society where every action is monitored. Entertainment is restricted. The family structure has been dismantled. Even children’s memories before their first day at school are wiped out and they have to live their lives without their parents waiting for them. Although most people are living happily in this society, Coda is unable to go along with its ebb and flow. The only people she meets everyday are Legato, a friend, and Riff, a university schoolmate who does not always see eye to eye with her. She is also sympathetic to Pracito, a moody and silent woman who she occasionally talks to. But one day, Placito has become the first ever university student to be executed. The execution is public for all to see and it is greeted with a rupture of applauses.
