Editorial overview
What it is
Exodus is a retro galaxy colonization strategy game. In this re-release from a 1990s game with several enhancements and new features, you arrive at a foreign galaxy populated with alien empires and have to colonize planets, build up their surfaces, and defend them against alien computer enemies. There are turn based tactical battles as well as diplomacy and spy operations. You can hire officers for different fields, invest in scientific research to yield new inventions, and equip your flagship as well as expand your fleet of warships, trahsporters, and scouts. There are different goals to pick at the beginning of the game as well as several difficulty levels and other configuration options.
The premise
It is the year 3011. Civilization has failed, and Earth is just a barren wasteland. But a few bosses of once mighty corporations have built a starship to bring them to a new galaxy where habitable planets were discovered. A group of homeless rebels gains access to the secret codes, steals the ship, and travels to the new galaxy. Without much knowledge or resources, they have to start new, claim a new planet for mankind, and begin to build a galactic empire, while other inhabitants of the new galaxy will try to achieve the same.
