Editorial overview
What it is
After a long period of peace, the kingdom of Grand Plains is threatened by unknown creatures. With the invasion of goblins and orcs, King Gambit is forced to abandon his castle and seek a path to survival. Throughout his journey, King Gambit will venture across diverse lands filled with danger. Study the board carefully and uncover the safest path in this adventure that blends Minesweeper-inspired mechanics with logical reasoning, transforming each stage into a puzzle that reveals another chapter of the king’s story. Cards and Their Values The game contains cards with values zero (0), one (1), and two (2). Cards with number 0 are the villagers (you must go in search of them), cards with number 1 and 2 are the enemy cards, you must avoid them or face them using the sword. The number displayed in the bottom-right corner of the card indicates the value of the sum of the neighboring cards values. When flipping the card, its real value is revealed in the top-left corner of the card.
The Sum of Neighboring Cards At the start of each board, every card displays a number in the bottom-right corner, indicating the sum of the adjacent cards values. When you focus on a card, its neighboring cards are highlighted with dashed rounded borders.
Marking Your Guesses You can mark cards to keep track of your guesses. Hover over a card and right-click, or press the right trigger on a controller, to open the radial menu. Use the directional input to select a mark (X to clear). Use yellow for guesses and red when you are certain.
Calculations are crucial to saving the villagers Your goal is to find all villagers (cards with value 0). At the bottom center of the screen, you can see how many villagers are still missing. Once all villagers are found, the Next button will appear on the right, allowing you to move on to the next board.
Use the Sword When You’re Unsure of a Card’s True Value The sword protects you from enemy cards (1 or 2), allowing you to flip them without taking damage. However, be careful: if the card is a villager (0), they won’t be saved and you will lose 1 health point. You can store up to two swords, and recover one by saving all villagers in a round.
