Editorial overview
What it is
In this port of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories to the PS2, PS3, IOS and Android, former trusted wise guy for the Leone family, Toni Cipriani returns home to Liberty City after spending time in hiding for killing a made man. Now, the streets of Liberty City are in turmoil, as warring families vie for control and the town begins to self-destruct under waves of political corruption, organized crime, drug trafficking and union strikes. Deranged hit men, morally depraved tycoons, cynical politicians and even his own mother stand in the way as Toni tries to bring the city under Leone family control.
The premise
In 1998, Antonio "Toni" Cipriani returns to Liberty City after years in exile for killing a made man. Eager to reclaim his place in the Leone crime family, he's met with suspicion, low-level jobs, and a bitter rival who tries to have him killed. As tensions escalate between the Leone family and rival Mafia factions, Toni navigates betrayal, shifting alliances, and personal conflicts—including with his own mother—all while slowly earning the trust of Don Salvatore Leone. Along the way, he helps dismantle rival families from within, making dangerous moves that raise both his status and the stakes.
As Liberty City's criminal underworld spirals into full-blown war, Toni becomes a key player in the Leones’ struggle for dominance. He juggles high-stakes assassinations, political manipulation, and uneasy alliances with power-hungry businessmen and vengeful outsiders. With the Leones edging closer to total control, Toni faces his biggest challenge yet—confronting the true architect of the chaos engulfing the city. By the end, he’s no longer a disgraced enforcer clawing for respect—he’s a central figure in the future of Liberty City's Mafia order.
