Editorial overview
What it is
Luonnonvoimat is an atmospheric 2D platformer inspired by the music of ILMU, a Russian folk-trip-hop group performing original songs in the Livvik dialect of the Karelian language. The game is set in a mythological version of ancient Karelia, during an era of raging volcanoes. Players take on the role of a forest spirit born from a fallen meteorite, whose purpose is to bring life to a volcanic desert and transform it into the land of forests and lakes that Karelia is known for today.
Featuring original soundtracks composed specifically for the project, the game blends platforming gameplay with an immersive atmosphere rooted in Karelian mythology and nature.
The premise
A long time ago, in the era of raging volcanoes, a meteorite fell on the territory of present-day Karelia, giving birth to a forest spirit. The spirit's purpose is to give life to plants, but this seems impossible in a volcanic desert. The forest spirit sets out on a journey to transform the barren land into the world of forests and lakes that Karelia would eventually become.
