Editorial overview
What it is
RuneBoard is a browser-based adventure inspired by the exploration, progression, skills, combat, and community spirit of classic MMORPGs.
The premise
The realm of Gielinor is vast, old, and dangerous — and it has been laid out before you like a great board waiting to be played. From the farms of Lumbridge and the anvils of Varrock to the white walls of Falador, the Kharidian sands, the jungle shores of Karamja, and the fog-drowned swamps of Morytania, every road, river, and ruin is a square on your journey.
You begin with nothing but a starting roll and an empty pack. Throw by throw you travel the world, mining mountain seams, hauling fish from cold rivers, and turning raw stone and timber into ever-finer gear — bronze, iron, rune, and at last dragon. You smith and craft your own armour, brew potions, run the rooftops, pick the pockets of the unwary, and bind raw runes to fuel your magic.
But the world does not give up its treasures freely. Goblins and giants prowl the green kingdoms, deep dungeons hide slayer-beasts and their masters, the Barrows brothers stir in their cursed mounds, and far to the north the Wilderness waits — a lawless frontier where dragons, revenants, and the King Black Dragon guard the richest loot in the land, and a single death can cost you everything.
There is no crown to claim and no ending written for you. Rune-Board is the story of the adventurer you make yourself — one roll, one ore, one level, one hard-won victory at a time — until the whole board of Gielinor bends to your name.
