Editorial overview
What it is
Hailed as one of the most successful games for the Genesis/Mega Drive, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 garnered critical acclaim swiftly after its 1992 release. Follow Sonic and Tails (in his series debut!) as they team up against the nefarious Dr. Eggman in order to save the Chaos Emeralds from the clutches of evil.
The new Drop Dash from Sonic Mania has been added to this version of the game, along with Super Sonic mode, the option to play with all the Chaos Emeralds from the start, and the 3DS version's Ring Keeper mode, where you only lose half the rings when damaged. It also includes Knuckles' version of the game, Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, originally accessed by connecting Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge.
