Editorial overview
What it is
Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis, referred to as simply Sonic the Hedgehog on the title screen, is a Game Boy Advance port of Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) that was originally released for the Sega Genesis. It was released in November 2006 exclusively in North America to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, marking the franchise's final release on GBA. The game was poorly received, mostly due to the screen crunch, low frame rate, and clunky physics, amongst other aspects.
The premise
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, (A.K.A Dr. Eggman) is capturing animals and turning them into evil robots while also getting away with stealing all of the 6 Chaos Emeralds. It is up to Sonic the speedy Hedgehog to foil Eggman's plans!
