Editorial overview
What it is
Tekken: Dark Resurrection on PSP is a portable version of the arcade update of Tekken 5, released in 2006. It includes the full roster, additional characters, and customization options from the arcade version. The game features multiple modes, including Arcade, Story, Practice, and Ghost Battle. It also supports local multiplayer and character data sharing via wireless connectivity.
The premise
Following the events of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Jin Kazama defeats his father, Kazuya Mishima, at the Mishima Zaibatsu’s Honmaru temple. Disgusted by Kazuya’s weakness, Heihachi Mishima challenges Jin, but is ultimately overpowered when Jin unleashes his Devil form. Regaining control at the last moment, Jin spares Heihachi and leaves, abandoning the battlefield.
Moments later, Honmaru is suddenly attacked by an army of Jack robots deployed from an unknown source. Heihachi and Kazuya are forced to fight side by side against the overwhelming assault, but as the battle intensifies, Kazuya betrays his father and escapes. The temple is destroyed in a massive explosion, and Heihachi is presumed dead.
In the aftermath, a mysterious figure observes the destruction and reports Heihachi’s death. Despite the apparent collapse of the Mishima Zaibatsu, an unknown leader quickly takes control and restores the organization’s power. One month later, the Zaibatsu announces the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, setting the stage for a new conflict.
