What it is
## The Hero and His Friends *The Hero and His Friends* is a fantasy roguelike adventure in which you meet new companions throughout your journey and use their cards to challenge enemies in a series of turn-based battles.
Every card has four attributes: **Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Faith**. At the start of each round, one of these attributes is randomly selected as the stat to be compared. Both sides then choose a card and reveal them at the same time. The card with the lower value loses HP. If both values are equal, both sides take damage. The basic rules are simple, but most companion and enemy cards come with a wide variety of special abilities. These effects can change how attributes are calculated, disrupt your opponent’s strategy, or even alter the rules of the battle entirely. A match can turn around at any moment, so choosing the right card and making full use of each companion’s abilities is the key to victory.
As the hero, you do not personally enter battle. However, you also have four attributes of your own: **Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Faith**. During combat, your attributes are added directly to every companion card you play. By equipping different weapons, armor, and accessories, you can increase these attributes and strengthen your entire team. The hero you build will therefore have a major influence on the effectiveness of every companion in your deck.
As the years pass, your adventure with your friends continues. Whenever you spend time talking with a companion and listening to their troubles, the experience may help them grow, permanently increasing one of their random attributes. However, life does not always move in a positive direction. An old injury may worsen and reduce a companion’s attributes. Conflicts may arise, and some friends may even fall out with you and leave your party forever. Just like friendships in real life, some people stay by your side, while others eventually drift away. Your friend list also has a limited capacity, so these changes may give you an opportunity to part ways with weaker companions and make room for new ones.
