Riverhillsoft

Founded in 1982, Riverhillsoft (リバーヒルソフト) was a video game developer and publisher who initially released software for Japanese home computers like the NEC PC-88. They later began producing home console games, focusing on systems like the PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) and Sony PlayStation.

The company first found its niche in graphic adventure games (J.B. Harold: Murder Club) before expanding to create RPGs (Burai series) and early survival horror games (Doctor Hauzer). After expanding their offices in Fukuoka during the late-1990s, dwindling sales on PCs, consoles, and mobile platforms led to the company folding. Most of its staff left to form Althi, Inc.; original co-founder and lead creator Rika Suzuki moved to Cing and freelance contracting.
